Respiratory Therapy

Respiratory Therapists are specialized healthcare practitioners who provide care to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system.  Respiratory Therapists treat patients with aerosolized medication, provide lung clearance and expansion therapies, and are capable of mechanically breathing for patients who are unable to efficiently.  Respiratory Therapists work with patients ranging from premature infants to the elderly, work in all areas of the hospital, and are vital members of the emergency response team. Effective skills such as compassion, communication, and the ability to work well with others are essential to becoming a successful practicing Respiratory Therapist.
