Overview

The Criminal Justice program at Seward County Community College provides students with the opportunity to develop and enhance their skills in the criminal justice field through educational and technical instruction.

The field of criminal justice focuses on upholding social control, deterring and mitigating crime, and sanctioning those who violate laws. Students looking to pursue their education in criminal justice at SCCC can do so in a variety of areas. All tracks offered provide students with the basic knowledge and physical skills required for a career in corrections. Students have the opportunity to receive hands on training and work with some of the latest equipment used in law enforcement, such as the Firearms Training System and investigative test equipment.

Curriculum

Associate of Science

The Associate of Science degree is a two-year degree that prepares students to transfer to a four-year school to complete their full degree in their chosen field. Fundamentals of the industry are a core emphasis, but general education requirements make up the bulk of the curriculum.
