Overview

A veterinarian is someone who looks out for the well-being and health of animals. Veterinarians treat sick and injured animals as well as advise owners on how to care for their pets and livestock, in addition to working at a clinic, veterinarians may also work for universities, research labs, or zoos.

Becoming a veterinarian is a long and rewarding career that requires dedication and hard work. This major is one of the most important steps on your journey to becoming a veterinarian. This program is designed to provide students with the foundational skills and knowledge needed to succeed in veterinary school. It’s an excellent choice for anyone who loves animals and is interested in pursuing a career that helps animals and makes a difference in the world.

Curriculum

Associate of Science

The Associate of Science degree is a two-year degree that prepares students to transfer to a four-year school to complete their full degree in their chosen field. Fundamentals of the industry are a core emphasis, but general education requirements make up the bulk of the curriculum.

Dr. William Bryan began his post-secondary education at West Texas A&M University where he earned bachelor’s degrees in both Chemistry and Physics. His graduate work includes a master’s in Chemistry from West Texas A&M and a PhD in STEM Education.

Dr. Bryan likes watching student faces when they get the “aha” moment in understanding what and why they are learning. Dr. Bryan has traveled to thirty-four US States and has a goal to make it to all fifty.

Dr. Chudamani Sharma Prakash

Biology Instructor

Dr. Prakash received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at Tribhuvan University Nepal, and a Master of Science in Medical Microbiology in Tribhuvan University Nepal. After coming to the U.S.A., he received a Master of Science in Biology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a PhD Evolutionary and Environmental Biology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Dr. Prakash prioritizes student and faculty interaction. He loves soccer and is a huge supporter of Liverpool FC.

Kerry has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Missouri, as well as a Master of Science degree in Biology from Missouri State University.

He enjoys facilitating group work every semester. It provides students with an opportunity to build genuine relationships. Therefore, improving the overall community we are building together.

Ty Hughbanks went to Northwestern Oklahoma State University for his bachelor’s degree and completed his master’s at Murray State University.

He loves students and tries to motivate them to become more scholarly! Mr. Hughbanks is a great storyteller and students enjoy hearing about his travels through fifty countries around the world. Pictures from these travels can be seen in the halls of the Math/Science wing.
