Grain Elevator Operations

SCCC has teamed up with Skyland Grain to offer a unique program that prepares students for everything they need to know for grain elevator operations. This includes maintenance, safety, pest control, motor controls, welding, and even management skills.

Exciting things have been happening in the Grain Elevator program. Phase 1 is complete and phase 2 is in operation:

Phase 1- As part of a grant from the State of Kansas, we were able to build phase 1 of the operation. The grain bins were delivered and set up on campus. They now store soybeans that were planted this past spring to produce biodiesel for the Biodiesel grant provided by the Soybean Commission. The operator shed has been set up and the last editions are being added to it.

Phase 2- The leg and conveyer are in the process of being built, and Skyland is helping gather the rest of the equipment needed to complete the set up.
