MLK Scholarship

The Martin Luther King Jr. Committee of Liberal, KS is proud to announce the “Never Stop Dreaming” scholarship application. 

Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA. 

Application deadline is April 3, 2023.

O'Brate Foundation

The O’Brate Foundation recognizes that the future is in the hands of today’s youth. Scholarships are available to Kansas youth for both college and  Duel-Credit awards.

Deadline for completing 2024-25 application is MAY 1, 2024

External Scholarships

Kansas County Clerks and Election Officials Association Scholarship

The Kansas County Clerks’ and Election Officials’ Association awards 10 to 12 $500 scholarships annually to Kansas high school seniors and college freshmen and sophomores, provided they carry a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship is available to applicants who will be attending a Kansas College or University. 

Application deadline: April 5, 2024

Terry L. McKanna Scholarship Fund of the Kansas Section of the American Water Works Association

The Terry L. McKanna Scholarship is open to students who are United States citizens and are enrolled in an accredited college or university in the State of Kansas. The applicant must be a taking courses related to civil or environmental engineering or environmental science with an emphasis on career fields associated with the Waterworks Industry.

National Association for Abandoned Mine Land Programs (NAAMLP)

NAAMLP is a non-profit, professional organization that promotes the reclamation and restoration of lands affected by abandoned mining throughout the nation.  A $2,000 NAAMLP Scholarship is intended to assist in the education of students who intend to work as scientists, engineers, or technicians in the field of mine land reclamation.

SER Corporation Scholarship

SER Corporation has been offering services in Kansas to migrant and seasonal farm workers for over three decades. The SER Scholarship Program is open to all Hispanic students (with at least one parent being of Hispanic parentage), who have maintained at least a 2.75 (B-) cumulative grade point average (first time applicants must have a 3.0 GPA), have applied for full-time status as a student at an accredited college, university or junior college, and meet all admission requirements of the school selected. Awards of $500 to $1,000 each will be granted for study leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree.  Awards are renewable for up to three years or until educational requirements are met, whichever comes first. All eligible scholarship recipients MUST complete the application process EACH YEAR to be considered for renewal of the award.

Emerge Scholarship – This scholarship is devoted to someone who is going back to school to be a positive example for others in their community. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear your story!

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships

Scholarships are the #1 reason students join PTK. Here’s why: we offer two types of scholarships to help students complete an associate degree and prepare for transfer to a four-year college. Nearly $1 million in competitive scholarships are offered through PTK’s Foundation to support students to complete a degree.

Kansas Kiwanis Foundation Scholarships

This year the Kansas Kiwanis Foundation will award 35 scholarships to Kansas High School and College students worth $20,700.00 to assist them with their education.

Scholarship Applications must be postmarked no later than Thursday, February 1, 2024. Applications are reviewed and recommendations are made to the Board in March. Recipients are notified following the Board decision. Monies are sent in August to the institution to which the applicant will be attending once the award requirements are met by the recipient.

The Gates Scholarship

The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.

Automotive Hall of Fame Scholarship

The program has specific scholarships for incoming freshmen and upper-level undergraduate students. All of the scholarships are based on financial needs and with the usual minimum GPA requirement of 3.0.

To be eligible for a scholarship you must:

  • Submit a completed application form indicating a sincere interest in an automotive career.
  • Provide an official transcript of all academic work.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation supporting your automotive interests.
  • Submit a letter of acceptance for an associate, bachelor, or masters program.
  • Be accepted at an accredited college, university or trade school within the United States at the time of application.
  • Students attending a technical training school may also apply (trade school should equal a two-year associate program).
  • Student must be a United States citizen or in the United States on a Student Visa.
  • Must be enrolled full-time.
  • Must have 3.0 GPA or higher.

The Foundation of the National Student Nurses' Association Scholarship

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Students currently enrolled and matriculated in a state-approved nursing program leading to an associate degree, baccalaureate, diploma, direct-entry master’s degree; or enrolled in an RN to BSN completion, RN to MSN completion, or LPN/LVN to RN program;

Matriculation means the student has applied to and has been admitted into a state approved nursing program. (Students must graduate after July 1, 2025, to be eligible to apply.)

  • Pre-nursing students taking courses to prepare for matriculation into a nursing program;
  • Currently attending classes and taking no less than six (6) credits per semester;
  • Involvement in nursing school organizations and/or community health activities;
  • Demonstrate academic achievement;
  • Establish financial need;
  • U.S. Citizen or Alien with U.S. Permanent Resident Status/Alien Registration Number;
  • High school students are not eligible to apply;
  • Funds are not available for graduate study unless it is for a first degree in nursing. (Master’s direct-entry nursing program students are eligible)

McDonald's HACER National Scholarship

To date, more than $33 million in McDonald’s HACER® National Scholarships have been awarded to Hispanic students across the country. The McDonald’s HACER® National Scholarship Program offers scholarships up to 30 outstanding Hispanic students from all over the country, and continues to provide educational opportunities to help narrow the gap that exists for Hispanic college-bound students, further reinforcing McDonald’s long-standing commitment to feeding and fostering the diverse communities it serves.

There are three tiers of funds, aimed to help recipients finance their college tuition. Tier 1 recipients are awarded up to $100,000. Tier 2 recipients receive $20,000 or $10,000 and Tier 3 recipients receive $5,000. Recipients are selected based on their academic achievement, community involvement, personal statement and financial need.
