History
Our Beginnings
The Seward County Community College Foundation was formed in 1969 along with the opening of Seward County Community College as the fund-raising arm of SCCC.
Our Founders
The charter Board of Trustees included Judge Horace Malin, Rev. Loren Ryel, Wayne Streiff, Charles Breen, Helen Recknor, and Dick Whitaker. The six-member board led by Dr. James M. Miller, president of the college, formed the Foundation to promote Seward County Community College by creating a fund to supply additional support for the College and its students. The SCCC Foundation is the fund-raising arm of the College.
#Fast-Forward to Today
Since its beginnings in 1969, the Foundation has grown to a membership of more than 3,000 with assets over $11 million. Each year the Foundation awards scholarships to deserving Seward County Community College students and supports the overall efforts of Seward County Community College.
