Kylix Art Club and Telolith

Kylix Art Club

Kylix, the student art club, sponsors a number of workshops, activities, sales and trips for the art student. Students participate in art exhibits and regularly attend other exhibits. The program brings in visiting artists on a regular basis.

Any student with an interest in art is welcome to join the club. Art scholarship recipients are required to participate in Kylix activities.

Telolith

Telolith is the award-winning SCCC student art and writing magazine that is published annually. Art students design the layout and cover. All students are invited to submit art and writing for publication in the magazine.

Five certificates of merit and place awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association to individual Telolith writers and artists, along with awards for Outstanding Article, Outstanding Story, and Outstanding Design, as well as recognition of the entire Telolith staff for typography.

Two awards to individual writers from the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Media Association.

Two individual writer awards for Outstanding Article and Outstanding story from the American Scholastic Press Association.

 

Over the last two decades, three ASPA First Place awards and five for First Place with Special Merit to the publication as a whole. Two Silver Medalist certificates and one Gold Medalist certificate from CSPA to the last three Telolith issues.

 

2010 issue - National Scholastic Press Association, Associated Collegiate Press, the top-level All American Honor Rating, with marks of distinction for writing and editing, photography, art graphics and typography, layout, and concept.

 

The SCCC 2013 Telolith art and literature magazine was recently awarded an Associated Collegiate Press 2013 Best of Show Award in the literary magazine category at the National College Media Convention in New Orleans. This was a national competition in which four-year and two-year colleges competed. Telolith received a 6th place award, and we are very proud of our writers, artists, and designers.
