Our house, office, automobile, streets, event our golf clubs, tennis racquets, bicycles, and lawn mowers all began as an engineering or architectural drawing. The drafting and design technology program at Seward County Community College trains students in the art of converting concepts, sketches, and ideas of engineers and architects into detailed drawings for manufacturing, construction, and engineering.
This program is designed to develop drafting skills and learn related fundamentals for manufacturing, engineering, building, construction, surveying, and design. Technical drafters are considered the communication link between engineering professionals and industry. In this position, the drafter is both creative and knowledgeable.
Drafting and design technology students at SCCC:
• Receive preparation for employment as a drafter/technician.
• Develop skills such as neatness, accuracy, speed, teamwork, and problem solving.
• Work on projects with local manufacturers, builders, and surveyors to understand the needs of the industry.
• Work hands-on with AutoCAD and Chief Architect.
