Job Duties:
Filing, organizing, typing, computer work. Making copies for the department. Checking the Humanities mailbox and distributing mail to instructors’ boxes. Helping in the box office during performances: passing out programs, helping with ticket sales, etc. Setting up classes, rehearsals and concerts. Watering pianos, working in Band and Choir Music Libraries. Other duties that the departments might need.
General Maintenance and management of the theatre; sweeping/cleaning stage and green room; painting theater floor; organizing the costume and props storage rooms; helping with props, set and scenic building, painting and repairs of sets/props/costumes. They must be able to lift 50 lbs. Helping backstage and/or tech during shows. Copying scripts and general office duties.
Skills Needed:
Organization skills, excellent computer skills, mathematical skills and should be able to move 50 lbs. Must be able to set up risers for concerts. Prefer someone in choir or band, who can read basic music.
The drama student worker may work outside of normal hours because of the rehearsal process which happens in the evenings.
They might fulfill hours by attending rehearsals and performances at the request of the supervisor, which may include evenings and Saturdays.
Dress Code:
MUST WEAR CLOSE-TOE SHOES.
When in the office – Business Casual or work clothes depending on what they are working on.
For drama – Work clothes are recommended. They will be in a dusty/dirty environment, like the costume shop, upstairs in the prop closets. They will also be painting the floor, backdrops, sets, etc.
