Seward County Community College offers 2 CDL training programs. Please contact the Admissions Office at 620-417-1102 for more information on course dates:
• 6-week, 264 hour, training program: Classes are held Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with at least two Saturday sessions from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (first aid/CPR).
TD 1002 CDL Permit
This 2 credit hour course is designed to familiarize and orient students to safe driving practices and review state of Kansas Tractor Trailer Driver Training Manual & DOT rules & regulations.
TD 1022 CDL Log Books
This 2 credit hour course is designed to familiarize and orient students to safe driving practices and review state of Kansas Tractor Trailer Driver Training Manual & DOT rules & regulations with specifics to maintain an Over-the-Road Record Management system.
TD 1012 CDL Inspection
This 2 credit hour course is designed to familiarize and orient students to safe driving practices and review state of Kansas Tractor Trailer Driver Training Manual & DOT rules & regulations with specifics to Pre-Trip & Post-Trip Inspections along with Truck & Trailer preventive maintenance & repairs.
TD 1102 CDL Range Driving
This 2 credit hour course is designed to familiarize and orient students to safe driving practices and review state of Kansas Tractor Trailer Driver Training Manual & DOT rules & regulations with specifics to backing trailers, road safety & courteous driving practices.
TD 1112 CDL Road Driving
This 2 credit hour course is designed to familiarize and orient students to safe driving practices and review state of Kansas Tractor Trailer Driver Training Manual & DOT rules & regulations with specifics to driving in country roads, paved roads & city streets.
(Pre-requisites are TD 1012 CDL Inspections, TD 1102 CDL Range Driving, TD 1022 CDL Log Books, and must have a valid permit).
Commercial Driver's License
This course consists of both lecture and video presentations and will provide all the information necessary to pass the CDL exam. Information will cover CDL general knowledge, air brakes, combination vehicles and twin/triple trailers, hazardous materials, tank vehicles and passenger vehicles.
National Safety Council Defensive Driving
This course consists of lecture and video presentations covering defensive driving. Students will receive a National Safety Council Certificate, and may qualify for a discount on their auto insurance.
First Aid/CPR
This course seeks to help students identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions, recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions for first aid care, it teaches the knowledge and skills that students need to know to give immediate care to an ill or injured person until more advanced medical care arrives.
