Students will find many uses for the information they learn in sociology and psychology. The student, along with all of society, serves as his or her own laboratory. Students will be better able to deal with their own feelings and the responses of those around them: friends, employers, family members.

For employment in the professional world of sociology or psychology, a master’s degree is usually the minimum requirement. Top positions in these fields are held by persons with a Ph.D. However, those with a bachelor’s degree find doors open for further training with business, government, or service organizations. Many opportunities exist in related fields.

Students can receive an Associate in Arts degree from Seward County Community College to give them a solid foundation of courses and enable them to transfer to a four-year college or university.

This two-year program requires the completion of a minimum of 64 credit hours.

The SCCC behavioral science department advisor will help the student plan his or her course of study and will outline the specific requirements for completion of the Associate in Arts degree.
