Overview

Students pursuing their English degree at SCCC learn the writing, reading, and critical thinking skills necessary to succeed as a professional. As students read, discuss, and write about important works, they are able to gain a deeper understanding of cultural and historical influences, as well as the relevance of literature to their own lives. Students have access to up-to-date computer labs, library services, and a staffed writing center, as well as opportunities to participate in a number of clubs on campus, including being on staff for the student newspaper or writing for the annual Telolith publication.

A degree in English from SCCC provides students with a firm foundation in courses that can be transferred to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor’s degree.

Overview

The English Department at Seward County Community College offers courses for general education and personal enrichment. In addition, the department offers courses in writing, literature, and creative writing that will fulfill the needs of interested students and potential English majors.
