The instructor will engage in a variety of learning support and in classroom and lab instruction practices, advising, and mentoring of students; identifying and implementing curriculum and assessment measures to achieve course, program, and college learning outcomes; participating in team-based activities. The instructor will be responsible for oversee inventory of equipment materials. The instructor will ensure adherence of safety standards and practices as well.


Seward County Community College serves as an important link to higher education in the remote corner of Southwest Kansas, serving a student population of which around 70% is first int their families to attend college. More than half identified as Hispanic. We draw students from a five-state service area. The success full candidate must be familiar to the region or willing to relocate and became acculturated to the community and demographic flavors of the rural Midwest.



Associates in science Welding degree with 4,000+ hours of industry work experience or Welding certificate or apprenticeship with three to five years on the job experience required. Bachelor’s Degree a plus. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and excellent communication and organizational skills a plus.


Essential Functions

  • Provides quality instruction through effective teaching strategies.
  • Participates in institutional advising, assessment and accreditation activities.
  • Participates in the assessment of student outcomes and maintain accurate student instructional records.
  • Represents the college within the community through participation in various organizations and civic groups.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the SCCC expectations of the Role of a College Student at SCCC which include participation in department, division, committees, and college meetings.
