Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with the highest foreign-born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.
Responsibilities
Position is responsible for day-to-day clerical duties and will assist in Human Resources and Payroll processes.
Qualifications
Two years to five years of similar or related experience. Bilingual preferred.
Associate degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
Essential Functions
- Provides clerical support by entering, formatting, and printing information; organizing work; answering the telephone; relaying messages; maintaining equipment and supplies; preparing new employee files; process mail and day to day correspondence; create employment packets; and serving as a point person for all new employee questions and information flow between the organization and job candidate.
- Assist with the new hire application process. This includes insuring that background check request is complete, setting appointments for first day of work training.
- Welcomes new employees to the organization by sending set-up information to IT and maintenance. Assisting with conducting new employee orientations.
- Responsible for entering new employment information, maintaining employee information and updating status changes in Banner; collecting employment benefit and tax information forms; conducting benefit enrollment process including going over new employee orientation checklist.
- Assist in the processing of payroll each month; answer questions regarding leave requests and balances; imputing corrections into time recording system; reconciling benefits statements and creating invoices for payment as needed.
- Assist with benefit open enrollments; reconcile deductions and assists with employee changes.
- Assist with Student Employment Workshops. Assists in creating and maintaining Human Resources forms. Generates correspondence and attends training or professional development as requested. Assists in supervision of student worker.
- Responsible for job postings, collecting and organizing application packets, forward application packets to search committee chairs, provide benefit information to prospective candidates, and other duties as assigned.

Selection Process
The search committee will conduct all minimum qualification appraisals as set forth on the position announcement and job description and reserve the right to limit the number of interviews granted. Meeting the minimum qualifications for a position does not assure the applicant an interview. Applicants selected for an interview will be notified of the time and place of the interview. Interviews are usually conducted on campus by the search committee. Additional interviews and/or teaching demonstrations may be required.
