Job Description:
The Information Technology (IT) work-study position at Seward County Community College offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional and dynamic environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Technical Support and Maintenance: Perform a wide range of technical tasks, including the repair, installation, and modification of computers, computer-controlled systems, and peripherals. This includes diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues to ensure optimal functionality.
- Help Desk Support: Manage the help-desk by answering phone calls, entering service tickets, and assisting walk-in faculty and staff with laptop and software-related issues. Provide support for connectivity concerns, such as VPN, account management, and Office 365. Ensure timely resolution of issues in alignment with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the IT team to support both students and faculty, ensuring a seamless technology experience across the campus. Contribute to team projects and initiatives aimed at improving IT services.
- Advanced IT Skills Development: Engage in learning opportunities to support higher-end servers, specialized software, and cloud-based accounts. This role provides exposure to advanced IT systems and the chance to develop skills in managing complex technology infrastructures.
- General Technical Support and Organization: Assist with maintaining an efficient IT workspace through tasks such as organizing and performing technology inventory, cleaning and preparing equipment for reuse, storage, or disposal, and completing small operational or support tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Aptitude: Basic understanding of computer operations with a strong interest in technology. The ability to read and comprehend technical instructions and apply them effectively is essential.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively interact with faculty, staff, and the IT team.
- Physical Requirements: The candidate must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Professionalism: The position requires a high level of professionalism, including the ability to dress in business casual attire as part of a team-oriented work environment.
