Job Description:

The Sports Information Office within the Athletics Department is seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic student worker to assist with coverage and promotion of the college’s athletic teams. This position offers hands-on experience in sports media, journalism, statistics, and digital content creation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Game Day Coverage:
    • Assist with live stats, scorekeeping, and scoreboard operation.
    • Support live streaming efforts (camera operation, production support, etc.).
    • Take photos or assist with coordinating photography during events.
    • Serve as a liaison to visiting team SIDs and media representatives.

Media & Communications:

  • Write post-game recaps, preview articles, and athlete features.
  • Update team rosters, schedules, and stats on the athletic website.
  • Contribute to social media content across platforms (Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook).
  • Help design game programs, promotional graphics, and other digital assets.

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain statistical records for all varsity sports.
  • Assist in the nomination process for athletic awards and honors.
  • Help organize and archive photos, videos, and historical records.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in sports journalism, communication, marketing, or digital media.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; knowledge of AP style is a plus.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and trends.
  • Basic knowledge of collegiate sports rules and statistics (StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats, or PrestoStats experience is a bonus).
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently under deadlines.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends based on the athletic schedule.

Preferred Skills (Not Required):

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere).
  • Photography or video editing skills.
  • Knowledge of website CMS platforms and/or sports stat software.

Dress Code:

Individuals must be dressed to perform the above tasks and open-toed shoes (like sandals) are not allowed.
