Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

If you would like to take a test at the testing center, you can easily schedule online: 

Walk-in testing is not allowed.  All testers must have an appointment to take a test.  

Tests are generally available during these hours during the academic year. 

  • Mondays – Fridays
    • 7:45 AM to 12 AM
    • 1 PM to 4:45 PM

For the most accurate hours, please check the main Testing Center or inquire with the Testing Center or Library.

If you are taking a national test (like the GED or CLEP), the testing company will give you guidelines on what form(s) of identification is required.

In general, to test, you must present one of the following forms of ID:

  • Driver’s License
  • Passport
  • State-issued Identification Card
  • Military Identification Card
  • Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
  • Government Employee ID Card
  • Tribal Identification Card

Paper/temporary copies or screenshots/pictures of your identification are not accepted.  

Testers who cannot make their testing appointment should reschedule as soon as possible. Reschedule an exam:

Some tests cannot be rescheduled — the SCCC Testing Center cannot refund any testing fees paid for testing.  If you are taking a test from an outside vendor, contact them as soon as possible.  

Students who are taking an SCCC test should contact their instructor – the SCCC Testing Center cannot extend the testing window for campus tests without instructor’s approval.  

Testers arriving more than five minutes late may not be allowed to test.  

The SCCC Testing Center has lockers where personal items can be stored during the exam.

Prohibited items in the testing room include:

  1. Electronic Devices: Smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, wristwatches and other electronic gadgets.
  2. Books and Notes: Any kind of study material, including textbooks, notebooks, and notes.
  3. Bags and Purses: Backpacks, handbags, and any other type of bags.
  4. Outerwear: Coats, jackets, and hats (unless for religious purposes).
  5. Food and Drinks: Snacks, beverages, and chewing gum.
  6. Calculators: Unless specifically allowed for certain exams.
  7. Writing Instruments: Pens/pencils, these will be provided by the testing center, if required.
  8. Recording Devices: Cameras, audio recorders, and any other type of recording equipment.
  9. Personal Items: Keys, wallets, and other personal belongings.
  10. Weapons: Any form of weapon, including firearms, knives, and pepper spray.
  11. Non-Prescription Drugs: Any medication not approved for use during the exam.
  12. Jewelry: Large jewelry items that could be used to conceal notes or other prohibited items.
