Financial Aid Office

Types of Aid

There are several options available to students to help pay for college.  Our Financial Aid staff can answer your questions and guide you along the way.

Financial Aid is money awarded or loaned to students and/or families to help pay for college.  Eligibility for financial aid is based on several different factors, not just income.

Scholarships & Grants

Scholarships can come from a variety of private and outside sources.

To apply for SCCC Scholarships, students must be admitted and complete the online application.

Grants are funds that do not need repaid.

Grants are available from both Federal and State governments, where general eligibility is based on your financial need.  Grants are also available from SCCC for Seward County residents.

Federal Direct Loans

Federal student loans, through the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program, are loans where students borrow directly from the U.S. Department of Education.  These can be need-based and/or non-need based depending upon a student’s financial need.

External/Private Loans

If you are considering financing your education, private student loans from financial institutions like banks or credit unions may also be an option to federal student loans.
